I am a responsible gun owner writing to express my support for the ATF’s proposed rule, Revising Regulations Defining “Engaged in the Business” as a Dealer in Firearms (RIN 1140-AB01). I agree that this rule is necessary to close dangerous loopholes that allow unlicensed individuals to repeatedly sell firearms without conducting background checks.
This rule provides much-needed clarity on who must be licensed, ensuring that those who are in the business of selling firearms are held to the same standards as licensed dealers. It protects law-abiding citizens like myself by making it harder for criminals and prohibited persons to easily acquire guns through unregulated, high-volume private sales.
I appreciate the ATF’s efforts to modernize these regulations in line with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. I urge the agency to finalize this rule as proposed to enhance public safety while respecting the rights of legitimate collectors and hobbyists.
