I support stronger gun safety regulations because they can help reduce gun violence while still protecting responsible gun ownership.Too many lives are affected by accidental shootings, school violence, and illegal access to firearms. I believe laws such as universal backgrounds checks, safe storage requirements, and stronger penalties for illegal firearm sales are important steps toward making communities safer.These measures do not take away constitutional rights, but instead encourage responsible ownership and help prevent guns from getting into dangerous situations. As a student, gun safety is especially important to me because schools should be places where students feel safe and focused on learning. Many young people today worry about the possibility of school shootings and gun-related violence in their communities.Requiring safe storage of firearms in homes can help prevent accidents and keep guns away from children or teens who may misuse them. In addition, stronger background checks could help stop individuals with violent criminal histories from obtaining weapons illegally.
