I am a responsible gun owner and supporter of realistic firearms training, writing to support the proposed rule to clarify that training rounds are not regulated as ammunition (RIN 1140-AA97). This rule correctly recognizes that inert, marking, or simulated-projectile rounds—designed exclusively for use in training devices—are fundamentally different from live ammunition.
By excluding these training rounds from the definition of “ammunition” under the Gun Control Act, the ATF will remove unnecessary import restrictions and regulatory burdens. This change will increase availability and affordability of essential training tools for law enforcement, military, and civilian shooters.
I support this rule as a common-sense update that promotes safety through better training without compromising public safety. I urge the ATF to finalize it as proposed.
