I strongly support eliminating advance notice and approval requirements for short-term interstate transportation of lawfully registered NFA firearms. A lawful owner should not need federal permission before traveling with property that is already registered and lawfully possessed. For permanent relocation or extended travel, notice should be simple and should not operate as a prior-restraint approval process. Please finalize the proposal and go further by minimizing Form 5320.20 requirements to the greatest extent allowed by law. The final rule should make clear that lawful owners may travel without delay and that ordinary changes in itinerary do not expose them to criminal penalties.
