Summary: An individual with MS who uses medical marijuana argues that they should not be considered an "unlawful user" of a controlled substance. They support the proposed definition change to ensure that responsible medical marijuana users retain their right to own and carry firearms.
Please pass this change! I have MS and am a medical marijuana user. I am responsible with my consumption of marijuana. It isn’t a medication that causes me to be an unlawful user of a medication I am prescribed by a medical doctor! Meanwhile, anyone with alcoholism who abuse alcohol are not told they are not responsible! Why can an alcoholic buy a gun and not a medical marijuana patient! I have the right to be able to buy a firearm, train with a firearm and have the feeling of safety, allowing me to defend myself. I have no doubt there are hundreds of thousands of marijuana users that were dishonest on the form so they can buy a gun. But all along honest people who are not dishonest are punished and have had my right to bear arms is ripped away from me. Please allow this change! We as a country need to move away from looking at marijuana a bad thing. The time is now! Thank you and good luck with this form amd the proposed changes!!!
