I strongly support this proposed rule. The criminalization of lawful gift purchases between family members represents a serious regulatory overreach from rogue government agencies that has put innocent gun owners at legal risk. I myself have purchased a rifle as a birthday gift for my adult son and was uncertain whether this exposed me to prosecution under the straw purchase prohibition. This should never be classified as a straw purchase. Where neither party is a prohibited person, a gift purchase is not a straw purchase. I urge ATF to finalize this rule.
