Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed action by advocating for the repeal of the Gun Control Act (GCA) and the National Firearms Act (NFA) to allow unrestricted firearm ownership and transfers. They argue that current regulations, such as background checks and straw purchase inquiries, infringe upon constitutional rights and suggest that the current system should be simplified to allow for legal gifting.
The GCA should be repealed to allow any American to purchase any legal firearm in any state, regardless of residency. The NFA should be repealed to allow citizens to own and bear the exact same firearms that are available to the military and law enforcement. American citizens should not have to complete a form or background check to exercise their constitutional rights.
Having said that. The 4473 only needs to ask one time about a straw purchase. Also, the FFL's need to understand, that an individual lawfully purchasing a firearm with the intent to then gift or transfer that firearm to another person who can lawfully own it is NOT a straw purchase! A person should and is lawfully allowed to purchase and gift a firearm. Especially in states that have unconstitutional age restrictions for certain classes of firearms. The person can possess, but not purchase from an FFL. So how can these people exercise their constitutional rights? Well, they have to be given a firearm...
