Summary: Vicki De La Garza, a private citizen and permit holder, supports the finalization of the rule regarding Brady Act background check exceptions. She argues that individuals with existing concealed handgun permits should not be required to fill out additional 4473 forms when purchasing or trading firearms.
Dear ATF, regarding RIN 1140-AA85;
My husband and I obtained our NCCHP when it first became available. Initially it was good for four years, after that the time frame was extended to five years.
Unfortunately, I let my renewal period lapse and for a couple of years I was undecided about retaking the class and applying for another concealed handgun permit. That was a mistake. I was uncomfortable in certain areas around our town and even more so while traveling out of state.
I have purchased/traded handguns during past years. It is an annoyance having to fill out a 4473 knowing that by having a CHP, I have already passed a more in-depth background check.
Please finalize rule RIN 1140-AA85.
Thank you,
Vicki De La Garza
