Summary: The commenter opposes the removal of the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) notification requirement for National Firearms Act (NFA) items. They argue that eliminating this requirement would hinder law enforcement's ability to ensure public safety and reduce gun violence.
The proposals would continue to take us backwards in the effort to reduce gun violence. Eliminating the requirement for applicants to notify their local Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) when making or transferring National Firearms Act (NFA) items like suppressors and short-barreled rifles (SBRs) makes it harder for law enforcement to keep themselves and our community safe. Please do NOT remove CLEO notification.
