Summary: The commenter supports removing the requirement to notify local law enforcement (CLEO) when purchasing NFA items or multiple handguns. They argue that these regulations are burdensome to both citizens and law enforcement and suggest that the resources spent on these processes should be redirected toward fighting crime.
I support removing the regulation of notifying CLEO when purchasing a NFA item because the process is a burden to the buyer, a burden to CLEO, and has not been proven to be effective. Dismissing this burden would save millions of dollars annually that could be used to stop criminals, not encumber law abiding citizens. Removing the requirement to notify CLEOs should also be extended to multiple handgun purchases for the same reasons.
