I am a responsible gun owner who frequently travels by commercial aircraft, writing to support the proposed rule to clarify delivery to common carriers (RIN 1140-AA84). This rule correctly states that a person who maintains direct control of their firearm while traveling—such as during a flight—does not “deliver” the firearm to the carrier.
This clarification removes long-standing confusion and aligns the regulation with the realities of lawful travel. As long as I retain possession and control of my firearm in accordance with TSA and airline rules, I should not be subject to unnecessary regulatory burdens.
I urge the ATF to finalize this rule as proposed to protect the rights of law-abiding travelers.
