The retention period in it's entirety is too close to a national firearms and firearms owner registry, which is an infringement of American citizens rights and privacies. No retention period should be the law. Once an individual has passed their NICS check their information should be deleted/destroyed by the FFL administering it. At most it should fall to the individual to retain a passed NICS 4473 form in their records for no more than 30 days after the purchase of the firearm.
