Summary: A pediatric ED nurse opposes the revision of firearms transaction records, arguing that loosening gun regulations increases violence and endangers children. The commenter emphasizes the need for smarter safety measures to preserve lives rather than prioritizing the interests of firearm organizations.
I am opposed to loosening firearm regulations. As a pediatric ED nurse, I have seen first hand the effects of too many guns on the street. Lives lost tragically for no reason. Kids gunned down in the crossfire or in their homes by an unlocked firearm. Senseless loss of life.
We now live in one of the most dangerous countries for gun violence and we are the leader in school shootings. Why do we choose to live this way? More guns are not protecting us as a society. They make every heated interaction potentially lethal. I have travelled extensively and am never as concerned for my safety as I am in American cities. Let's be smarter. Let's preserve lives. Let's allow our children to go to school and not be afraid.
You have an obligation to our children, not to organizations like the NRA. It should be about life. Not about money that can be gained by supporting firearms designed for warfare.
