I feel these proposed rule changes are an overdue first step. The amount of bureaucracy that exists can only rationally be for one of two logical purposes- to justify the jobs created to support the unnecessary process or to add steps and burden for US citizens to exercise a numerate right. Any other right, whether it be freedom of religion or soldiers occupying citizen homes, would not encounter any of the challenges and roadblocks the average law abiding citizen has to go through when purchasing a firearm. The dealers for firearms have more moving targets and more ways to be penalized than a pharmacist dispensing schedule 2 narcotics. The falsehood that the steps create a safer environment is a lie spoken loudly by those with an agenda of controlling what they don’t like. Any semi objective study done shows that gun restrictions, additional burdens to purchase or own, or other obstructions do not make an impact on crime and only serve to make criminals have the dominant position of violence. The fact that it is illegal for a nationwide gun registry to exist and that mechanisms that allow it to happen is arrogance at best, at worst intentional subversion to erode gun rights. I have been involved with shooting and hunting since I was six years old, have never been arrested, much less convicted of any crime, yet to exercise a constitutional right puts a burden of ensuring I am not subject to an individual’s differing belief of what that right actually represents. Streamlining the process will not create criminals, it wil, save tax dollars spent, remove the stigma many go through just by purchasing a firearm, and help reinforce that the 10th amendment should not give a way to negate admendments 1-9. A simplified nationwide approach is the only way to actually live to the idea that all men were created equal.
